Issue four.

The sun was just an orange ball as it descended into the sea, painting the sky and sea in luminous shades of pinks and yellows, the sweeping violet night heading steadily westward. It was how the sunset I imagined the very first sunset would have appeared, perfect and unspoiled. It was cold outside, and I wished that I had brought a sweater, but not until the sun was fully disappeared. I realized that simple moment wasn't the reason I was here, but it didn't matter, I was in no rush.

I went back home, well, my home away from home, where I've spent the past few months isolated from everything except wine and my prose. It has been a much needed break, a respite from working long weeks and always thinking, 'someday, I'll . . .' This novel I'm writing has become me, overtaken me in some ways. I've spent hours every day writing and creating and dreaming the life of someone else. I've no doubt anymore that this is what I want to do, spend my days with the pen in hand and writing. I didn't need much convincing.

So, here we are at issue number four of Dinlab. I'm here, fifteen hundred miles away, hiking and having delusions of being Thoreau in the woods, writing madly in some cabin, wondering how cold the winters can get and what sort of adventures I'd have, while the dedicated web designers busily crank out more material and sort through submissions and I just email them ideas and opinions. Anyway, I'm rambling; perhaps I have gone mad. I shouldn't have watched "The Shining", not here, not alone. Sigh.

I suppose what I wanted to say was something about thanks for the submissions, thanks for the hard work, congrats to my web programming friends, I miss you all; but really I'm too preoccupied with hiding from the sounds coming from upstairs and those damned, haunting twins. That and my book.
